Why only 140 characters per tweet?

I have always wondered why Twitter only allows 140 characters per tweet.  Then I found this as an answer someone came up with ...

"According to Twitter founders Biz Stone and Jack Dorsey, there are two reasons for the 140 character limit.

160 characters is actually the text message limit, but Twitter subtracted 20 to make room for the name of the person making the post, and just generally to make the service work on as many devices as possible.

Dorsey adds that the 140 character limit forces people to be creative in their writing. As he puts it, "We're fond of constraints that inspire creativity.""

My original understanding was that 140 characters was the maximum length that the average person will choose to read ... anything more than that and the person will get bored.  I guess this is somewhat similar to what is being said at the end of this answer.

Just think it is kind of cool how the number 140 was chosen!!!
